How it chooses
When a question is about a local business, Gemini can search Google and look up places on Google Maps, then summarize what it finds. It relies on the same signals as Search and Maps: your website, your Business Profile, your reviews and what other sources say about you. Gaps or contradictions between them make it less likely to name you.

Often, but not always. Gemini writes an answer instead of listing results, so it favors businesses whose information is clear enough to summarize. We check both.
Spoken questions are longer and more specific, such as “who can fix a leaking flat roof in Dallas this week”. Pages that answer specific questions match them better than a list of services.
It can draw on Google reviews and what they say. Reviews that mention the job, the place and the result give it more to work with than “great service”.
